David Collins takes out Genesis Golf Link Cup Final

On a day that was made for golf, David Collins from Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club has taken out the 2016 Genesis Golf Link Cup.

Under a cloudless sky and in 30-degree heat, the 11-marker posted 33 points on the tough New South Wales Golf Club layout and held off several challengers to claim the Cup.

Kooringal Golf Club's Darren Tyrrell has won the 2015 Golf Link Cup National Final. Tyrrell fired an impressive 37 point round off a handicap of two to take the crown in difficult conditons at Royal Melbourne's famed West Course.

Des Mahar isn't playing the Golf Link Cup National Final but caddying for his partner Chris Watson will be just as big a victory for him when the event rolls around next week.

Having been diagnosed with lymphoma three years ago, Des underwent eight months of intensive chemotherapy this year and according to Chris, one of our top two women not otherwise qualified, is in as good a shape as he has been for a long time.
