All Work And No Play Doesn't Hurt Wayne's Game
A self-confessed workaholic for most of his life, Wayne most definitely does know how to play golf; it’s just that he opted to work and look after his kids instead for about three decades.
A three marker in his younger years Wayne became a ‘three or four times a year’ player, mostly teeing up in corporate days tied to his job as a hospital administrator, before retiring just over 10 years ago.
“I loved the game but it’s just that for those years I was completely focused in my work,” he says.
“I would tee up in the odd hit and giggle corporate day but certainly nothing regular. But once I retired that all changed.”
Once he hit 55 and could give up work Wayne went back to golf with a vengeance.
“I play four times a week and I’ve got back down as low as six since I retired,” says the now 67-year-old who is currently playing off 10.
“I’ve had a bit of trouble with arthritis over the years a but I found a swing system on the internet a few years ago and it has been a godsend.
“It’s called the Peak Performance swing and it’s designed specifically to help people who struggle with a bad back and it has been fabulous for me.”
That’s definitely been true of Wayne’s game in month one where he put together several consistent rounds to finish atop A Grade after the first four weeks of competition.
For his efforts Wayne has won a $1,000 iSeekGolf Travel voucher.
